The Cliff News | Varanasi | July 30, 2026 – On the first day of the auspicious Shravan month, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited Varanasi on Thursday. He performed elaborate prayers and offered holy water at the temples of Baba Shri Kashi Vishwanath and Shri Kaal Bhairav.

During his visit, the Chief Minister sought the blessings of Lord Shiva, praying for the happiness, peace, prosperity, and good health of the people of the state. His journey marked a significant blend of religious devotion and a crucial review of facilities for devotees during the holy month.

Pilgrimage Begins at Kaal Bhairav Temple

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath commenced his Varanasi sojourn at the Shri Kaal Bhairav temple, revered as the 'Kotwal' (guardian) of the city. Adhering to traditional customs, he offered prayers and sought blessings for the welfare and prosperity of the state.

Following this, he proceeded to the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham. Here, he was warmly welcomed by the temple administration and priests amidst Vedic chants. Inside the sanctum sanctorum, the Chief Minister performed a special Rudrabhishek and offered holy water to Baba Vishwanath.

Assessing Devotee Facilities

According to information released by the Chief Minister's office, Yogi Adityanath expressed his wishes for the well-being and peace of the state's residents during his prayers at both temples. The Shravan month holds immense religious significance for the worship of Lord Shiva, drawing millions of devotees to Kashi Vishwanath Dham annually. The Chief Minister's visit was an integral part of this spiritual tradition.

After completing his prayers, the Chief Minister conducted a thorough inspection of the temple premises and surrounding areas. Observing the large influx of devotees on the first day of Shravan, he closely reviewed arrangements for security, sanitation, traffic control, drinking water supply, medical assistance, and the darshan process.

Directives Issued for Smooth Operations

The Chief Minister issued clear instructions to officials, emphasizing that devotees should not face unnecessary waiting times in queues and that the darshan process must operate smoothly and uninterruptedly.

He stressed the continuous increase in the number of devotees throughout the month of Sawan, urging all relevant departments to coordinate and work collaboratively. He directed the police, administration, health department, municipal corporation, and temple authorities to work in tandem to ensure effective crowd management.

Furthermore, he particularly highlighted the need to maintain special arrangements for the convenience of women, elderly, and differently-abled devotees. The Chief Minister underscored the importance of maintaining cleanliness within the temple premises and providing timely essential facilities to devotees.

He made it clear to the officials that any disorder or negligence would not be tolerated and that every devotee should have a safe and accessible darshan experience.

Atmosphere of Devotion

Long queues of devotees began forming at dawn on the first day of Shravan for darshan of Baba Vishwanath. The entire Kashi Vishwanath Dham resonated with devotional chants of 'Har-Har Mahadev' and 'Bol Bam', creating an atmosphere of spiritual fervor.

Extensive security arrangements were in place during the Chief Minister's visit, while regular darshan for ordinary devotees continued as per the established protocols.
