Clerk Demoted in Bareilly After Failing Typing Test Three Times
Rehan Khan, a junior clerk posted in the Meerganj tehsil of Bareilly, has been demoted to a Class IV position due to failing the mandatory Hindi typing examination for the third consecutive time. This decision was made by the District Magistrate, Avinash Singh, on September 16, 2026, in accordance with government orders.
Rehan Khan was appointed as a junior clerk on July 5, 2021, under the deceased dependent quota. The appointment stipulated that he must pass the Hindi typing examination within a specified timeframe. Following his appointment, Khan took the typing test for the first time on September 25, 2023, but did not pass. He failed to achieve success in the second examination held on June 21, 2024, as well.
Despite being given a final opportunity by the administration on September 8, 2026, Rehan Khan again failed the examination. After failing all three attempts, the administration decided to demote him from his original post and appoint him to a Class IV position. He is currently serving in the Meerganj tehsil.
Other Employees Given Final Opportunities
In addition to this case, the district administration has adopted a clear stance regarding other employees appointed under the deceased dependent quota. The administration has granted Rahul Kumar and Lakshmi Saxena a third and final chance to pass the Hindi typing examination. Kanchit Chaudhary and Neha Joshi will be given their second opportunity.
All concerned employees have been given two months to prepare for the examinations. The administration stated that opportunities are being provided within the scope of the rules to maintain their efficiency and ensure compliance with government regulations. This move aims to preserve efficiency in the workflow and prevent unnecessary delays.
