JPSC Exam Irregularities Under Scrutiny

Amidst serious allegations of irregularities and rigging in examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC), the Jharkhand CID (Criminal Investigation Department) has intensified its investigation. As part of this operation, the agency has carried out extensive raids at several key locations, including Ranchi and Lucknow.

Extensive Raids and Arrests

During these actions, several suspects, including Rakshak Singh, an accountant for the examination conducting agency TDPL, have been apprehended. The total number of arrests has now reached approximately 20. Joint teams of CID and Jharkhand Police have taken numerous individuals into custody during raids at various sites.

Accountant and Agents Detained

According to the investigating agency, Rakshak Singh, arrested from Lucknow, was working as an accountant at TDPL and is accused of being involved in large-scale irregularities and rigging within the examination process. Meanwhile, interrogation of agents and employees such as Umkant Oraon, Roshan Kerketta, Manoj Kumar, and Dharmendra Kumar is ongoing in Ranchi.

Organized Network Suspected

The CID has claimed that initial investigations have provided concrete indications of a well-planned and organized network being active in the scam. The alleged mastermind of this syndicate is identified as Abhay Tiwari, who is accused of orchestrating this network to arbitrarily influence the examination process. Currently, investigative agencies are thoroughly examining digital evidence, financial transaction records, and other crucial documents related to the case to uncover other members of the network and their roles.

Student Protests Continue

While the CID is carrying out its operations, student protests against the alleged irregularities in the JPSC examinations continue in Ranchi. Protesting students are demanding an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or an independent probe under the supervision of a retired High Court judge. The students allege that the fairness of the examination process has been severely compromised and that strict action must be taken against all those responsible.

Assembly Session to Address the Issue

Meanwhile, the much-awaited monsoon session of the Jharkhand Assembly is scheduled to commence today, August 6, 2026. It is highly probable that the issue of alleged discrepancies in the JPSC examinations will be prominently raised in the house. The opposition may seek answers from the state government regarding the current status of the investigation and actions taken against the culprits. Notably, with the Chief Minister himself holding the portfolio for the Education Department in Jharkhand, the opposition is likely to make concerted efforts to ascertain the government's accountability in this entire episode. The state government, in turn, will present its stance based on the CID's investigation and the arrests made so far. Given these circumstances, the upcoming monsoon session is expected to be quite tumultuous concerning the JPSC examination scam.
