BJP Leader Accuses Administration of Corruption Over Farrukhabad's Pachhal Ghat Bridge

Pachhal Ghat Bridge Repairs Plagued by Allegations of Corruption

In Farrukhabad, BJP leader Vikas Rajput has launched a scathing attack on the administration and relevant departments regarding the dilapidated condition of the Pachhal Ghat Ganga river bridge and alleged corruption in its repairs. He claims that despite millions of rupees being spent annually on maintenance, the quality of work is so poor that repairs do not last more than two to three months.

Rajput stated that this situation clearly indicates a waste of taxpayers' money and widespread corruption. He expressed deep concern over the lack of basic amenities and administrative negligence in the district. "It is extremely unfortunate that while India is on its way to becoming the world's fourth-largest economy, the common people in our district are forced to struggle for basic facilities, stuck in traffic jams for hours. This is not just mismanagement but a result of administrative inaction," he said.

He further added that this scenario is not only inconvenient for citizens but also exposes the inefficiency of the government system, where allocated funds for development projects are not being utilized properly.

Corruption and Accidents Alleged on NH-730C

The BJP leader reiterated allegations of continuous corruption in the construction of NH-730C. He noted that despite these serious accusations, no effective action has been taken against any responsible official or party involved to date. According to him, this highway has now become notorious among locals as the "Highway of Accidents," with frequent mishaps proving that the construction quality has been compromised.

Vikas Rajput also highlighted the absence of traffic signals and essential safety measures at sensitive and crowded locations such as Central Jail Chauraha, Baghar Nala, and Masani. He expressed concern over the continuous road accidents occurring in these areas, resulting in loss of lives. Despite this, the administration is refusing to grant permission for speed breakers, citing rules, even though these speed controllers could play a crucial role in preventing accidents.

He questioned how many more lives must be lost before the administration wakes up and prioritizes the safety of the common public.

Questions Over Neglect of Permanent Repairs

Vikas Rajput expressed his displeasure over the blatant corruption visible in the district's development projects, holding both the state and central governments accountable. He demanded an explanation from the administration for the lack of permanent repairs to the Pachhal Ghat Ganga bridge for the past three years, while government funds are being squandered annually in the name of repairs. This trend emphasizes a focus on temporary solutions rather than long-term, permanent ones.

He indirectly targeted the administration, stating that it appears officials are waiting for a major accident. He warned that if the bridge is not strengthened and permanently repaired in time, a major accident could occur any day, for which the administration would be solely responsible. Given the bridge's current condition, it poses a serious potential threat requiring immediate attention.

Substandard Construction and Suspicion on Contractors

The BJP leader also pointed out that despite numerous complaints from public representatives, no concrete steps have been taken to improve the bridge's quality. He also mentioned the condition of the Shukrullapur overbridge, dedicated to the public two years ago, which has allegedly fallen victim to corruption. This incident raises serious questions about the overall quality of development work in the district and indicates that the problem is not confined solely to the Pachhal Ghat bridge.

Vikas Rajput alleged that the bridge repairs are being carried out by substandard contractors and unskilled laborers. He demanded that the repair work be entrusted to reputable and experienced companies in the country to ensure safe and durable construction for years. He believes that many such companies exist in India capable of completing bridge repairs robustly and quickly using modern technology, yet the administration has not felt the need to contact them.

This suggests a flaw in the local decision-making process, prioritizing cost-effective or self-interest-driven solutions over quality work.

Warning to Administration, Fear of Major Accident

Finally, he warned the administration and the government that there is still time. If the administration does not take this matter seriously, a major accident could occur any day, for which the concerned officials will be directly responsible. He emphasized the urgent need for immediate and permanent repairs to the bridge to ensure public safety and prevent the misuse of government funds.

His demand is for a high-level inquiry into the matter and strict action against those found guilty.
