Food Department Launches Extensive Campaign Against Adulteration

In anticipation of the upcoming Diwali festival, the Food Safety Department in Bhind district has initiated a comprehensive campaign to curb adulteration. Under the directives of Collector Pawan Kumar Jain, food safety officers conducted thorough inspections of various dairies, establishments, and vehicles, resulting in the seizure of a substantial quantity of sub-standard mawa and the collection of several food samples for testing.

Hygiene Violations and Notices Issued to Dairies

As part of this campaign, Food Safety Officer Kiran Senger inspected Sheetala Durga Dairy and Krishna Dairy, located near Gohad Chowk. During the inspections, unhygienic conditions were found in the dairies, leading to the issuance of notices under Section 32 of the Food Safety and Standards Act to the concerned establishments. Additionally, documents related to mustard oil at Ram Lakhan Tomar Food Products were examined to ensure compliance with food safety standards.

Massive Mawa Seizure in Mehgaon Tehsil

In Tehsil Mehgaon, Food Safety Officer Reena Bansal seized approximately 2600 kilograms of mawa from a vehicle. The estimated value of this seized mawa has been reported as Rs 6.76 lakh. This mawa was found to be associated with Kamlesh Dairy Rajpura, Ramgopal Dairy Mrigpura, Sanju Dairy Mudia Kheda, and Bajrang Dairy Soni. This large seizure indicates irregularities in the mawa trade, particularly during the festive season when demand increases.

Action in Hotels, Expired Goods Destroyed

A joint team of police and the municipal body, led by Chief Judicial Magistrate Nidhi Nilesh Srivastava, also conducted an inspection drive in various hotels across the city. At Hotel Narayani Heights, expired bread and buns were destroyed on the spot, and the establishment was issued a notice. Similarly, at Hotel King's Imperial, expired Shrijii brand paneer powder, spoiled coriander, and broccoli were disposed of.

Samples Collected, Further Legal Action Anticipated

Samples of paneer and mustard oil were also collected from all these locations under the Food Safety and Standards Act, and further legal action will be taken based on these findings. The swift action by the department has caused a stir among adulterators in the district. Officials have clarified that no establishment will be spared if they compromise public health during festivals like Diwali. This campaign will continue in the coming days to ensure that only safe and standard food products reach consumers.
