Bihar Bypoll Counting Underway

The counting of votes for the by-elections held in Bihar's three assembly constituencies – Bankipur, Manjhalpur, and Datia – is currently in progress. Polling for these seats concluded on Thursday.

Prashant Kishor Establishes Strong Lead in Bankipur

Early trends indicate that Prashant Kishor of Jan Suraj has established a significant lead in the Bankipur seat. The details for the Manjhalpur seat are yet to be released, maintaining suspense among political observers. Kishor has demonstrated a strong position from the initial rounds of counting in the Bankipur assembly constituency.

After the completion of the 15th round of counting, Prashant Kishor is leading by a substantial margin of 8,202 votes. He has secured a total of 29,752 votes so far. This lead reflects the grassroots campaigning and voter support he has garnered.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate, Neeraj Kumar, is in second place with 21,550 votes. Meanwhile, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate, Rekha Kumari, holds onto the third position with 6,755 votes. This lead has been progressively strengthening.

Following the 14th round of counting, Prashant Kishor was ahead by 7,781 votes. At that point, he had received a total of 28,201 votes, while BJP's Neeraj Kumar had 20,420 votes and RJD's Rekha Kumari had 6,142 votes. Prior to that, at the end of the 13th round, Prashant Kishor led by 7,119 votes. By then, he had garnered 26,113 votes, with BJP candidate Neeraj Kumar in second place with 18,994 votes, and RJD's Rekha Kumari third with 5,583 votes. These figures clearly show that Prashant Kishor has consistently maintained and increased his lead.

Congress Leading in Datia

On the other hand, the Congress party has maintained its dominance in the Datia assembly seat. Congress candidate Ghanshyam Singh is leading, preserving his advantage. By the end of the eighth round of counting, Congress's Ghanshyam Singh was ahead by a significant margin of 6,583 votes. He has received a total of 38,264 votes so far, giving him a clear lead.

In comparison, the BJP candidate has received 31,681 votes. This figure signals a strong hold for Congress in Datia, which could be a major achievement for the party.

Manjhalpur Seat Awaits Results
