Bhopal Police Arrest Two MD Drug Suppliers, Seize 3 Grams of Contraband

Major Action by Ayodhyanagar Police

In a significant operation on Friday, the Bhopal Police arrested two individuals involved in supplying MD drugs. The Ayodhyanagar Police Station confiscated approximately 3 grams of MD drugs, a Maruti Ignis car, and two mobile phones from the suspects. The total value of the seized items is estimated to be around Rs 6,50,000.

'Nasha Se Doori Hai Zaruri 2.0' Campaign Yields Results

This action was carried out under the 'Nasha Se Doori Hai Zaruri 2.0' (Staying Away from Drugs is Essential 2.0) campaign, initiated by the Police Headquarters. The campaign's primary objective is to protect youth from drug traffickers.

According to information provided by the police, both arrested individuals were supplying drugs to college students and other young people. They reportedly purchased drugs at low prices and sold them to students at inflated rates to make a profit.

Chai Cafe Front for Drug Smuggling

Their smuggling method was particularly cunning; they operated under the guise of a chai cafe to discreetly distribute MD drugs, thus avoiding suspicion.

Leadership and Directives Drive Crackdown

The effectiveness of the 'Nasha Se Doori Hai Zaruri 2.0' campaign is evident with continuous strict actions against drug smugglers being directed by Police Commissioner Shri Sanjay Kumar (IPS) and Additional Police Commissioner Shri Shailendra Singh Chauhan (IPS).

In line with these directives, Deputy Commissioner of Police for Zone-02 Vikas Sahavala (IPS) ordered a crackdown on such traffickers. Under the supervision of Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Ms. Mini Shukla (IPS) and the guidance of Assistant Police Commissioner, M.P. Nagar Division Ms. Divya Jhariya, the Ayodhyanagar police team, led by Station House Officer Inspector Mahesh Lilhare, achieved this success.

Arrests Made Based on Informant Tip

Acting on credible information received from informants, the police team apprehended two young men in the Meenal Residency area. During preliminary questioning, the accused identified themselves as Harsh Soni (26 years old), son of Hargovind Soni, residing in Chhatrapati Nagar, Ayodhya Bypass, Bhopal, and Deepak Thakur (26 years old), son of Rajesh Thakur, residing in Radha Krishnapuram Colony, Khejda, Ayodhya Bypass, Bhopal.

Both accused have been booked under the NDPS Act.

Criminal Records and Businesses of the Accused

The accused, Harsh Soni, who has a BE degree and works in a private company, has a prior criminal record. He is already facing a case under the NDPS Act (Crime No. 367/26) at the Ayodhyanagar police station.

Deepak Thakur, who completed 12th grade and operates a chai cafe, also has a similar criminal record under the same section of the NDPS Act. Both were profiting by selling MD drugs at high prices to students and young people.

Investigation Scope Broadened

The police are now conducting detailed interrogations with the accused regarding the procurement and sale of MD drugs. Furthermore, the police are gathering information to identify other members of this network and their operations.

This operation is expected to help disrupt the drug supply chain in Bhopal city and curb such incidents in the future.
