Anti-Encroachment Drive in Bhind: Shopkeepers Warned of Immediate Removal or Action

Bhind Municipality has launched a stringent campaign to make the city encroachment-free. In compliance with the directives of Collector Kirodi Lal Meena, Chief Municipal Officer (CMO) Virendra Chakravarti, accompanied by police and administrative officials, conducted surprise inspections of key commercial areas on Wednesday.

During the inspection, temporary encroachments were identified in busy areas such as Ambedkar Market, Vikas Market, Batasha Bazaar, Station Road, Bangla Bazaar, and Khanda Road. The CMO expressed deep displeasure over illegal occupations on the footpath in front of Dhanwantri Complex in Batasha Bazaar, caused by tin sheds, hoardings, and shop extensions.

He issued strict instructions to the concerned shopkeepers to remove their encroachments within 24 hours. CMO Chakravarti warned that if encroachments are not cleared within the stipulated time, the municipality will proceed with demolishing the illegal structures using bulldozers, with full responsibility lying with the encroaching shopkeepers.

Other Markets Given Respite with Warning of Fines

Additionally, traders in Vikas Market and Ambedkar Market, operated by the civic body, have been given one week to clear the footpaths. CMO Virendra Chakravarti clarified that if footpaths remain occupied after this period, the allotments of such shopkeepers will be immediately canceled.

The administration has also stated that encroachers will face hefty fines, and legal proceedings will be initiated in court against those violating the rules. This firm stance by the administration has caused a stir among shopkeepers with illegal occupations in the city.

The municipality has emphasized that this anti-encroachment campaign will continue indefinitely in the public interest and to ensure smooth traffic flow.
