Illicit Liquor Seized in Bhind Under Anti-Drug Campaign
The administration in Bhind district, Madhya Pradesh, has taken decisive action as part of the 'Distance From Intoxication is Necessary 2.0' campaign. During operations at two locations, a total of 7.74 bulk liters of illicit liquor were confiscated, aimed at curbing the escalating illicit liquor trade.
Under the directives of Collector Kirodilal Meena and the guidance of SDM Gohad Vikas Camor and District Excise Officer Bhind Mahesh Kumar Gaud, this operation was conducted on Wednesday. The Excise Department has intensified checks at dhabas, hotels, and along roadside routes, along with vehicle inspections.
As part of this crackdown, a thorough search of Sarpanch Dhaba within the Gohad circle was conducted. During the search, 15 packets of plain liquor and 10 packets of spiced liquor, totaling 4.50 bulk liters, were seized from the accused, Gyan Singh.
In a further action under the same campaign, near Sonu Dhaba on Gwalior Road, 18 packets of plain liquor, amounting to 3.24 bulk liters, were confiscated from the accused, Vijay Dhakad. The estimated value of the seized illicit liquor is approximately four thousand rupees.
Cases have been registered against both accused under the Excise Act 1915 in connection with the seized illicit liquor. The successful operation involved raids at a total of four locations.
Excise Sub-Inspector Narendra Kumar Prajapati and constables Brajesh Jayant, Janak Argall, and Sudip Verma played crucial roles in this significant enforcement action. The District Excise Officer emphasized that the campaign will continue unabated, with no leniency shown towards the illegal liquor trade, as the administration is committed to eradicating its sale and consumption to protect society from its ill effects.
