Balrampur Secondary Sports Kick Off: Talent Selection in Badminton and Table Tennis
Balrampur district launched secondary sports competitions on Friday, with badminton and table tennis events selecting young talent for regional levels.

Secondary Sports Competitions Commence in Balrampur
The School Games Federation of India and the Secondary Education Department officially inaugurated secondary sports competitions in Balrampur district on Friday, July 31, 2026. The events began with enthusiastic participation from students representing various schools in badminton and table tennis.
Platform for Young Talent
Organized under the coordination of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Inter College, Galibpur, at the local Sports Stadium Balrampur, these competitions aim to provide a platform for emerging young talent. The inauguration marked the start of district-level sports events, as per the directives of District Inspector of Schools, Mridula Anand.
Inauguration and Player Motivation
The Sports Convener and Principal, Mrs. Rita Chaudhary, formally initiated the program after getting acquainted with the students from participating schools. She encouraged the athletes to compete with sportsmanship.
Player Selection for Divisional Level
Player selection trials were conducted across three age groups and six categories to prepare for the divisional level competitions. The following players were selected:
- Badminton Under-14 Boys: Vivek Kumar Gupta (L.M.T. Pachpedwa)
- Badminton Under-14 Girls: Himanshi and Pragati (Saraswati Vidyamandir)
- Badminton Under-17 Boys: Prince Soni (C.M.S. Balrampur)
- Badminton Under-17 Girls: Jaansee (L.M.T. Pachpedwa)
- Badminton Under-19 Boys: Sumal Ahmed and Vimlesh Kumar (Swatantra Bharat Inter College, Tulsipur)
- Badminton Under-19 Girls: Anshika Pandey and Manya Mishra (Balrampur Girls Inter College, Balrampur)
Table Tennis Selections
In table tennis, Prajwal Gupta from Modern Inter College and Fahad from C.M.S. secured their places. These selected players from the district will proceed to compete in the divisional games, representing their district.
Key Officials and Support
District Sports Secretary Mu. Suhail confirmed the progression of the selected athletes. Several members of the District Sports Committee, including Madan Lal, Arpan Pandey, Pankaj Pandey, Rashmi Singh, Naveen Pal, Prashant Singh, Umesh Tiwari, and Radha Mishra, along with other physical education teachers, were present and played a crucial role in the smooth conduct of the sporting events.
