ULLAS Program Facilitates Neo-Literate Assessment in Balrampur
Balrampur district organized a significant fundamental literacy and numeracy assessment examination for neo-literates as part of the ULLAS-Navbharat Saksharta Programme, a Government of India initiative. This examination aimed to evaluate the knowledge of adult learners who have entered the mainstream of education through this program.
Assessment of Core Skills and Examination Conduct
The evaluation primarily focused on a thorough assessment of reading and writing proficiency, along with essential numeracy skills crucial for daily life. The examination was conducted peacefully, systematically, and transparently at various council schools and designated examination centers across the district.
The Education Department made extensive arrangements to ensure the success of this process. Concerned officials, headmasters, teachers, and volunteer teachers actively participated in the smooth conduct of the examination. Learners present at the examination centers were also provided with necessary guidance and support to enable them to demonstrate their abilities without any hindrance.
Literacy Towards Self-Reliance
Education Department officials emphasized that literacy extends beyond merely acquiring knowledge of letters. It is a powerful tool for making individuals more aware, capable, and self-reliant in their daily lives. Basic numeracy and literacy skills empower individuals to better understand government schemes, manage daily financial transactions, and be more conscious of their rights.
This initiative plays a crucial role in the development of society. The ULLAS program is designed to educate adults who were deprived of formal education due to various reasons. The department's primary goal is to ensure educational opportunities reach every eligible individual in the district and to integrate them into the mainstream of society.
Encouraging Continuous Learning
By encouraging a continuous learning process, this initiative represents a significant step towards building a literate and aware society. In the coming times, the Education Department will further accelerate its efforts to identify more illiterate individuals and connect them with the literacy campaign, ensuring that no one is deprived of education.
