Balrampur Embraces 'Swachhta Hi Seva' Campaign with Community Clean-up

Community Clean-up at Jharkhandi Sarovar

As part of the 'Swachhta Hi Seva 2026' campaign, running from Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday to Mahatma Gandhi's जयंती (birth anniversary), a special cleanliness drive and 'Shramdaan' was organized at the Jharkhandi Sarovar complex in the Ideal Municipal Council of Balrampur.

During this event, municipal officers, employees, and sanitation workers cleared accumulated garbage from the Sarovar complex and transported it to the designated disposal site. Municipal officials not only participated in the voluntary labor themselves but also educated citizens about the importance of cleanliness.

Emphasis on Public Participation

They stressed the need for public participation in maintaining cleanliness in public places, water bodies, and religious sites. Chairman's Representative DP Singh Bais stated, "Cleanliness is not just the responsibility of the government machinery; it is the collective duty of every citizen." He urged local residents to dispose of waste only at designated locations and maintain cleanliness in their surroundings.

Transforming Cleanliness into a Mass Movement

The primary objective of the 'Swachhta Hi Seva' campaign is to transform the 'Shramdaan' initiative into a widespread mass movement. Under this campaign, the municipal administration is continuously organizing awareness programs in various parts of the city.

Key participants in this event included Executive Officer Lal Chand Maurya, Tax Inspector Rajesh Kumar, JE Civil Avinash Yadav, JE Water Dharmendra Gaur, and Sanitation Inspector Diwakar Pandey, along with numerous other staff members. The officials clarified that these efforts, continuing until October 2nd, aim to create a clean and beautiful Balrampur. They emphasized that the campaign can only achieve complete success and bestow a clean identity upon the city with the active participation of citizens.
