Balrampur DM Shares Meal with Children at Anganwadi, Assesses Nutrition Quality
In a bid to enhance the health, nutrition, and education of children in Balrampur district, District Magistrate Dr. Vipin Kumar Jain visited Gram Saraykhas in the Rehra Bazar block. He conducted a thorough inspection of a composite school, digital library, and Anganwadi center, with a particular focus on the quality of food and the smooth functioning of nutritional services.
To gauge the actual quality of food supplied by Zomato Feeding India, the District Magistrate took an innovative step. He sat on the ground with the children at the Anganwadi center and shared their afternoon meal. Tasting 'kadhi-rice' and 'idli-sambar' alongside the children, he inquired about the food's nutritional value and taste. He emphasized that a balanced and nutritious diet is crucial for the healthy physical and mental development of children, laying a strong foundation for their future.
Expanding and Effectively Implementing Nutrition Services
Currently, this nutrition initiative is actively running across all 60 Anganwadi centers in the Rehra Bazar block. The District Magistrate instructed the concerned officials that any compromise in nutritional arrangements would not be tolerated at any level. He specifically stressed the importance of providing nutritious food to children in their villages if they cannot attend the Anganwadi centers for unavoidable reasons.
Furthermore, arrangements were ordered to ensure food for pregnant women was packed hygienically and safely, allowing their family members to collect it easily. The District Magistrate advised Anganwadi workers to maintain continuous communication with parents to increase children's attendance rates at the centers. He clarified that Anganwadi centers are not merely distribution points but also vital learning and care hubs for children's intellectual and social development.
To ensure children's regular attendance, workers were directed to conduct door-to-door visits to educate and motivate parents. He also stated that children's nutritional levels should be monitored regularly, and immediate special attention should be given to any malnourished child found. The administration is committed to ensuring all children receive adequate nutrition appropriate for their age.
Focus on Pregnant Women and Children with Special Needs
As part of expanding nutrition services, the District Magistrate also closely reviewed the quality and delivery system of food provided to pregnant women. He placed special emphasis on the food being hygienic and nutrient-rich to maintain the health of expectant mothers and their unborn babies.
Instructions were given to ensure the food is available in secure packets, allowing family members to take it home without hesitation for consumption. The District Magistrate also directed special attention towards children who are unable to reach Anganwadi centers for any reason. The 'home-delivery' of nutrition for such children was emphasized to be further strengthened.
The objective is to ensure no child suffers from malnutrition, especially in remote areas where accessibility might be an issue. This initiative is a significant step towards promoting nutritional security in rural and underserved communities. The administration assures continuous monitoring of these arrangements to ensure government schemes benefit every eligible individual effectively and without hindrance, strengthening public service quality and access in the district.
Inspection of Educational Quality and Digital Library
During the school inspection, the District Magistrate instructed teachers to focus on providing quality education and effectively utilize available facilities like smart classrooms. Inspecting the digital library in Saraykhas, he directly interacted with the youth preparing for competitive exams.
He highlighted how the availability of modern resources in rural areas can play a crucial role in guiding the youth towards a better future. Discussions were also held on measures to enhance the utility and accessibility of the digital library. The District Magistrate encouraged the youth to make full use of these resources and also informed them about various training programs run by government and non-governmental organizations.
He stated that knowledge and skills are the keys to success in today's era, and platforms like the digital library can be instrumental in that direction. The Block Development Officer, Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), and other relevant departmental officials were present with the District Magistrate on this occasion.
