Awareness Rally Against Diarrhea in Farrukhabad, Students Deliver Message

Diarrhea Awareness Campaign Launched on World ORS Day

On the occasion of World ORS Day, July 31, 2026, a special campaign was conducted in Farrukhabad to spread awareness about the serious illness of diarrhea. Students from Ramanand Balika Inter College organized a rally, providing crucial information to the public about the causes, prevention, and treatment of diarrhea.

Objective: Eliminating Childhood Diarrhea Deaths

The primary objective of this initiative is to eliminate mortality caused by diarrhea, particularly among children aged zero to five years. The local health department also organized an awareness seminar at the Chief Medical Officer's office. This event was held under the "No Fear of Diarrhea" campaign, in collaboration with Population Services International India (PSI India) and Kenview.

Expert Advice on Diarrhea Management

Presiding over the seminar, Additional Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sarvesh Yadav stated that it is essential to remain vigilant rather than panic about diarrhea. He emphasized that if a child experiences loose stools two to three times a day, they should be immediately given ORS solution and zinc medication, which are the most effective methods for managing the illness.

"No Fear of Diarrhea" Campaign Details

Dr. Sarvesh Yadav explained that the main goal of the "No Fear of Diarrhea" campaign is to completely eradicate infant mortality caused by diarrhea. To achieve this, people are being educated and made aware of diarrhea management. He assured that ORS solution and zinc tablets are being provided free of charge through all health units and ASHA workers in the district, ensuring immediate assistance is available when needed.

Public Awareness Through Multiple Channels

During the event, Amrish Pandey from PSI India provided information on the activities of the ongoing Stop Diarrhea campaign in the district. He mentioned that messages on diarrhea prevention are continuously being disseminated to the public through promotional vehicles. Special programs are also being organized in schools to educate children and teachers about the issue. Furthermore, important messages on preventing diarrhea are being broadcast via the municipality's garbage collection vehicles to reach every citizen.

Rally Highlights Importance of Hygiene and Timely Treatment

During the rally, students from Ramanand Balika Inter College carried placards highlighting the importance of adopting hygiene practices, drinking clean water, and seeking timely, appropriate treatment, inspiring the public. Health department officials stressed that awareness is the most effective and accessible measure for preventing diseases like diarrhea.
