Brutal Incident on National Highway-46

A heinous incident has come to light in Madhya Pradesh's Guna district on National Highway-46 late Thursday night, raising serious questions about law and order. Six unidentified assailants, upon descending from Jharkhand, not only assaulted and robbed an engineer and his fiancée but also attempted to rape the young woman.

Following this brutal act, a climate of fear has gripped the region, and the police have formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to apprehend the accused. This heart-wrenching incident occurred as the young couple was returning on their motorcycle after visiting the Hanuman Tekri Temple in Guna. Six unknown assailants, lying in wait on National Highway-46, intercepted them.

Criminals Engineer a Stop

The assailants cunningly used the excuse of a punctured motorcycle tire, forcing the couple to stop. As soon as the bike halted, the criminals snatched the keys and dragged both individuals towards the dense forest by the roadside. They then stole the young man's cash and valuables after brutally beating him.

Subsequently, they targeted the young woman, attempting to rape her. Preliminary reports indicate that the woman also endured severe physical brutality, leaving her critically injured. Miraculously, both victims managed to escape from the clutches of the perpetrators.

Police Response and Investigation

Upon being alerted by a passerby, a police team immediately reached the scene. However, all the accused had already fled into the dense forest before the police arrived. The injured couple was promptly taken to the hospital for treatment, where they are currently recovering.

The young woman has undergone a medical examination, and the police have recorded her statement. Guna Superintendent of Police Hitika Vasal acknowledged the gravity of the incident and stated that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted to investigate the matter. The police are scrutinizing CCTV footage from surrounding areas, gathering technical evidence, and attempting to identify the accused with the help of informers.

The police have also initiated raids on potential hideouts. The police administration has assured that a thorough investigation is underway and that the culprits will be arrested and face stringent legal action as soon as possible.
