Food Safety Department Intensifies Crackdown on Adulteration in Bhind

The Food Safety Department in Bhind district, Madhya Pradesh, is actively continuing its special campaign against food adulteration. Acting on the directives of Collector Kirodilal Meena, officials have conducted surprise checks on various establishments.

During these operations, authorities collected samples of adulterated products and seized a substantial amount of ghee. The primary objective of this campaign is to curb adulteration in milk and dairy products, as well as other food items across the district, ensuring that common consumers receive pure and safe products.

Surprise Checks Yield Seizures and Notices

On Friday, Food Safety Officer Kiran Sengar took action against food vendors in Bhind city. At Vinod Dairy on Gauri Road, preliminary tests indicated adulteration in ghee, leading to the collection of two samples.

Approximately 390 kg of ghee, valued at an estimated Rs 2.73 lakh, was seized on the spot. These samples will be sent to the laboratory for confirmation of their purity. Additionally, a sample of Chana Dal was taken from Sonam Provision Store on Gauri Road.

Irregularities were found at the store, and the vendor was issued a notice under Section 32 of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. This section mandates food business operators to improve their practices.

Milk Sampling Conducted in Mehgaon

Food Safety Officer Rekha Soni led a similar campaign in the Mehgaon region, focusing on local milk vendors. Samples of milk were collected from the vehicles of milk sellers Rai Singh Narwariya, Ramdas Kushwah, Rajiv Goswami, and Brahma Singh Parihar. These samples will also be sent for laboratory testing.

Following this, she inspected the Sanchi Chilling Plant, a key hub for milk collection and distribution in the area. Milk samples were collected from twelve milk committees here to ensure the integrity of the supply chain.

The department also visited Yash Dairy in Village Garhi, Tehsil Mehgaon, collecting two samples of ghee. These ongoing actions demonstrate the department's commitment to continuous monitoring and ensuring compliance with standards.

Samples Sent for Comprehensive Testing

All collected samples will be dispatched to the State Food Testing Laboratory in Bhopal for thorough quality and standard checks. The confirmation of purity or adulteration will be made only after detailed analysis.

This entire operation underscores the department's resolute determination to prevent food adulteration in the district and provide consumers with safe products.
