A road accident near Chhoti Jail Chowk in Farrukhabad has raised serious questions about the conduct of the local traffic police. Brijesh Kumar, a resident of Manikpur, was on his bicycle for an essential errand when a woman home guard on a scooter allegedly collided with him forcefully.

The impact sent Brijesh Kumar falling to the ground, resulting in injuries and significant damage to his bicycle. Eyewitnesses at the scene claim that upon being informed of the accident, the responding traffic police reportedly took no action against the woman home guard. Instead, she was allegedly allowed to leave the scene unharmed.

Allegations of Police Harassment and Bias

Victim Brijesh Kumar alleged that instead of detaining or questioning the woman home guard, the police began to threaten and admonish him. He stated that he was cycling near Chhoti Jail Chowk when a woman home guard, riding scooter number UP 76 AM 5895, sped and carelessly hit his bicycle.

The sudden collision caused Brijesh Kumar to lose balance and fall, sustaining serious injuries. His bicycle was also severely damaged, with its wheel bent and rendered unusable. Despite his condition and the damage, the police’s alleged inaction has fueled public anger.

Questions Raised Over Police Role and Lack of Assistance

Following the incident, locals informed the traffic police. Eyewitnesses allege that the police officers who arrived at the scene sided with the woman home guard instead of assisting the injured Brijesh Kumar. No attempt was made to detain the woman home guard for questioning or to initiate any preliminary action against her.

Conversely, Brijesh Kumar claims the police scolded and threatened him, suggesting he was at fault for being on the road. Such treatment of an accident victim has caused widespread resentment towards the police. When the injured Brijesh Kumar sought help from the police, he was reportedly explicitly denied assistance.

He believes there is an attempt to cover up a mistake made by a government official, while an ordinary citizen is being harassed.
