Major Drug Bust in Bhind

The Mihona police station in Madhya Pradesh's Bhind district has executed a significant operation against drug trafficking. Acting on accurate information from an informer, police raided two separate locations in Achalpura village, apprehending two smugglers and seizing a substantial quantity of illegal marijuana.

Seizure and Arrests

The seized marijuana has an estimated market value of fifty thousand rupees. This action is part of the police's ongoing efforts to curb the spread of illegal narcotic substances in the region. Station House Officer Inspector Rohit Gupta received a tip about individuals involved in the illegal sale of narcotics in Achalpura village.

The informer's intelligence proved highly accurate, enabling the police team to act swiftly, cordon off the identified locations, and conduct a raid. This led to the successful apprehension of the smugglers red-handed.

Quantities and Value

  • The first accused was found with 1 kilogram and 108 grams of marijuana, estimated to be worth around ₹40,000, indicating potential involvement in large-scale trafficking.
  • The second accused was apprehended with 250 grams of marijuana, valued at approximately ₹10,000.
  • In total, police seized 1 kilogram and 358 grams of illegal marijuana, with a combined market value of about ₹50,000.

Legal Proceedings Initiated

Separate cases have been registered against both accused at the Mihona police station under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. This act governs the illegal trade of narcotics and prescribes severe penalties for those found involved.

Police are now conducting a thorough investigation into the matter to identify other potential contacts and sources involved in this drug trafficking racket. Efforts are underway to determine the origin of the marijuana and the intended distribution points.

Community Appeal

This operation is considered a significant step towards curbing the illegal drug trade in the area, reinforcing efforts to protect youth from addiction. The police administration has also appealed to the general public to immediately report any such illegal activities to the police for timely intervention.
