Power Crisis in Bamori: Farmers Distressed, MLA Warns of Agitation

Power Woes Plague Bamori During Crucial Sowing Season

In the Bamori assembly constituency of Guna district, farmers are grappling with unscheduled power cuts, low voltage, and overload issues at a critical time for Rabi crop sowing. Despite government claims, farmers are not receiving adequate electricity for irrigation, significantly impacting their planting process.

On the ground, farmers are reportedly receiving only three to four hours of electricity daily, which is insufficient for crop needs. In response to this dire situation, Bamori MLA Engineer Rishi Agarwal, accompanied by hundreds of farmers, surrounded the Deputy General Manager's office of the electricity distribution company in Guna on Tuesday. He directly engaged with officials, highlighting the farmers' grievances.

The MLA emphasized that the electricity company's claim of providing ten hours of power to the constituency is proving to be hollow, with the actual situation being starkly different.

Farmers' Demands and Assurances

MLA Rishi Agarwal has demanded that electricity officials ensure at least eight hours of regular and quality power supply for farmers to facilitate Rabi crop sowing. He specifically stressed the urgent need to repair faulty electrical equipment at the Suhaya, Bishanwada, Kapasi, and Bhaunra substations, which are hindering power supply.

Electricity company officials assured the farmers and the MLA that load adjustment work is currently underway and uninterrupted power supply to pump lines would be restored from Tuesday. They promised to make every effort to provide sufficient electricity to the farmers.

Threat of Agitation Amidst Uncertainty

However, MLA Rishi Agarwal has cautiously warned the electricity officials, stating clearly that if uninterrupted power supply is not ensured as promised by Tuesday, they will be compelled to launch an intense, statewide agitation with the farmers. This protest aims to exert pressure on the government and the electricity department.

It remains to be seen how effective the electricity department's promises will be and whether Bamori farmers will find relief from the power crisis in the coming days. If the situation remains unchanged, farmer protests could escalate further.
