TV Actor Aditi Sharma Accuses Husband, In-laws of Abuse

Renowned television actor Aditi Sharma, known for her roles in popular shows such as Apollena – Sapno Ki Unchi Udaan, Rabb Se Hai Dua, Kaleerein, and Khatron Ke Khiladi 15, has lodged a formal police complaint against her husband, Abhineet Kaushik, and his family. The actor alleges a pattern of domestic violence, assault, physical and mental harassment, verbal abuse, character assassination, and the misappropriation of her stridhan.

The complaint, officially filed at the Goregaon police station in Mumbai on July 31, details Sharma's account of her relationship with Kaushik. The couple first met during an online acting class in June 2021, over five years ago. They subsequently began cohabiting in Goregaon West in September 2024, and were married a few months later, in November 2024.

Allegations of Abuse Post-Marriage

According to Sharma's statement, her husband's demeanor reportedly shifted significantly shortly after their wedding. The actor claims that frequent disputes arose over trivial matters, including her wardrobe choices. Furthermore, she alleges that Kaushik began taking money from her to cover household expenses instead of contributing himself.

The situation reportedly escalated dramatically on January 1, 2025, following an argument about coffee. Sharma states that Kaushik allegedly began to question her character, accusing her of infidelity and repeatedly scrutinizing her phone. This led to him sleeping in a separate room and, as per the complaint, he also interfered with her ability to communicate with her parents.

In-laws Implicated in Harassment

The complaint also names Urmila Kaushik, 65, Abhineet's mother, and Kirti Kaushik, his sister, as being complicit in the alleged harassment. Sharma claims they consistently took her husband's side during their arguments, exacerbating her distress. She further alleges that her mother-in-law has refused to return her bridal jewellery, including her mangalsutra, gold chains, rings, a diamond ring, and bangles, despite repeated requests.

The Goregaon police have confirmed receipt of the complaint and have initiated an investigation into the matter. Aditi Sharma has not yet made any public statement regarding the allegations.

Previous Accusations and Counter-Allegations

In a previous turn of events, March 2025 saw Abhineet Kaushik and his legal counsel speaking to the media. They had accused Aditi Sharma of infidelity, specifically alleging an affair with her Apollena co-star, Samarthya Gupta. Abhineet's lawyer stated to India Forums that Kaushik had allegedly caught Sharma and Gupta together, leading to a significant confrontation. The lawyer also claimed that Sharma had pressured Kaushik into marriage and insisted on keeping it discreet due to industry perceptions.

“She had just started shooting for the show. Even the producer, Karishma, was aware of it. Abhineet caught Aditi and Samarthya together, which led to an ugly confrontation,” Abhineet’s lawyer told India Forums.

Further, Abhineet's lawyer claimed that Aditi described their marriage as a “mock test” and not "legally binding" when confronted about the alleged affair. The lawyer asserted that pictures of their wedding were presented as evidence. The situation reportedly became volatile, with her family allegedly demanding Rs 25 lakh and a divorce, and Aditi's father allegedly slapping Abhineet during a scuffle where Aditi also sustained injuries.

Aditi Sharma's Response to Previous Claims

Responding to these accusations a few days later, Aditi Sharma provided her perspective to India Forums. She stated that within a month of her marriage, she began experiencing "unbearable marital disputes" and "misbehaviour" that she could not disclose at the time due to ongoing legal proceedings.

“Right after a month of getting married, I was facing unbearable marital disputes. I was facing a lot of misbehaviour and other things which I cannot disclose right now because that is going to go ahead in the court,” she told India Forums.

Sharma also claimed that Abhineet had disrespected her and her family in front of her friends on multiple occasions. She indicated that she had sought a divorce, which both families had agreed to amicably. She maintained that she had never disrespected her husband's family and that domestic abuse was not perpetrated by her side, emphasizing her genuine love for him and her intention to speak the truth.
