Teachers Suspended Over RSS March Participation

Two government school teachers in the Yadgir district of Karnataka have been suspended pending a departmental inquiry following their participation in an RSS Patha Sanchalana, or route march. The Education Department stated that their involvement prima facie violated provisions of the Karnataka Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 2021.

The suspension orders were issued on August 20th by Channabasappa Mudhol, the Deputy Director of School Education for Yadgir. The suspended teachers are Gururaj Joshi, an assistant teacher at the Government Girls' High School in Hunasagi, and Anna Saheb Deshmukh, head teacher of the Government Lower Primary School at Kuppi in Surpur taluk.

Dereliction of Duty Alleged

According to the official proceedings, the teachers' participation in the RSS route marches was deemed to constitute dereliction of duty. This action is reported to have contravened several rules within the Karnataka Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 2021.

The official order explicitly stated, "Your participation in the RSS Patha Sanchalana prima facie amounts to dereliction of duty and violation of Rules 3(1), 3(2), 3(3), 5(1) and 7 of the KCS Rules." These rules govern the conduct expected of civil servants in Karnataka.

Specific Incident Cited

The proceedings detailed that Gururaj Joshi was reportedly involved in an RSS Patha Sanchalana held in Talikoti, located in the Vijayapura district, on October 12, 2025. A photograph documenting his participation in this event was published in the local newspaper 'Vijaya Karnataka', serving as a key piece of evidence in the department's decision.

The suspension means that both teachers will be under scrutiny while the departmental inquiry progresses. The outcome of this inquiry will determine further action regarding their service careers. The Education Department's stance highlights its commitment to enforcing conduct rules among its staff.
