Madhya Pradesh Police Gains National Recognition for Cybercrime Innovations
Innovations by the Madhya Pradesh Police in tackling cybercrimes have received significant national recognition. Sub-Inspector Bharatlal Prajapati, posted at the Bhopal Cyber Crime unit, was honored with the 'FCRF Excellence Award 2026 – Excellence in Cyber Policing' during the 'FutureCrime Summit 2026' held in New Delhi. This award was presented for his development of the 'Investigation Camp' and the effective use of technology in cyber policing and digital investigation.
Award Presented at FutureCrime Summit 2026
The award was bestowed by the Future Crime Research Foundation (FCRF) on the platform of FutureCrime Summit 2026, which took place on August 6 and 7, 2026, at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The summit serves as a national forum to discuss and counter cyber threats, emphasizing multi-stakeholder participation, policy dialogue, and capacity building.
'Investigation Camp' Initiative Drives Technological Solutions in Cyber Investigation
Sub-Inspector Bharatlal Prajapati received this award for an initiative named 'Investigation Camp'. This program aims to understand the technical challenges faced during actual investigations and develop practical, technology-based solutions for them. The primary goal is to equip investigating officers with tools and methods to make the investigation of cyber and digital crimes more systematic, swift, and effective at the ground level.
Digital evidence, technical analysis, and information obtained from various digital mediums are extremely crucial in investigating cybercrimes. The 'Investigation Camp' is focused on overcoming these complexities and streamlining the investigation process. This effort by the Madhya Pradesh Police demonstrates their commitment to keeping pace with evolving technology and effectively combating crimes.
Police Emphasize Public Awareness and Prompt Reporting
The Madhya Pradesh Police are adopting a multi-pronged approach to prevent cybercrime, including prevention, public awareness, prompt reporting, and effective technical investigation. In this regard, campaigns like 'Safe Click' and 'Safe Click 2.0' have been conducted to educate citizens about online fraud, fake links, digital arrests, and other cyber threats. The 'Safe Click' campaign was launched in 2025, followed by 'Safe Click 2.0' in 2026.
These campaigns aim to raise awareness about cybersecurity among citizens, students, women, senior citizens, and various sections of society. Initiatives like e-Zero FIR have been introduced to simplify and expedite the process of lodging cybercrime complaints. This system allows citizens to file initial complaints digitally and has legal recognition under Section 173 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
Increasing Need for Technology-Driven Policing
Cybercriminals are constantly utilizing new technologies and methods, necessitating continuous evolution in policing. Alongside traditional methods, the Madhya Pradesh Police are consistently enhancing their capabilities through technology, digital forensics, data analysis, cyber intelligence, and innovation. This nationally received award is not just an individual achievement but a symbol of national recognition for the collective efforts of the cybercrime team and the guidance of senior officers.
The police continuously strive to ensure citizens are alert to the possibility of becoming victims of cybercrime. Even if a crime occurs, they aim for citizens to reach out to the police without delay. With this objective, along with intensifying public awareness campaigns, the capacity for investigating and acting on cybercrimes is also being continuously strengthened.
Events like the FutureCrime Summit provide an opportunity for police and technology experts to converge and brainstorm strategies for addressing future challenges.
