Savarna Community Protests UGC's New Regulations in Aron

Aron, Guna District, Madhya Pradesh | September 16, 2026 - The Savarna community staged a massive public protest rally in Aron, Guna district, on Wednesday, expressing strong opposition to the University Grants Commission's (UGC) Equity Regulation 2026.

Under the leadership of the Savarna Samaj Sangharsh Morcha, a large number of community members gathered at the Das Hanuman Mandir intersection at 12 PM. Speakers at the event emphasized the need for social harmony, impartial justice, and a transparent system in higher education.

The rally commenced from the Das Hanuman Mandir premises, traversing the main thoroughfares of the town before concluding at the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) office. Protesters vehemently demanded a fair review of these new higher education regulations and a broad national discussion on the matter.

Demand for Review and Public Objections

A delegation submitted a memorandum to Sub-Divisional Magistrate Manjusha Khatri, addressed to the Hon'ble President of India. The memorandum clearly stated that the proposed regulations require a thorough review, and objections should be invited from the general public at a national level.

Demonstrators also called for timely investigation of complaints, ensuring the accused an adequate opportunity to present their case, and providing effective protection to genuine victims.

Call for Savarna Commission and Reservation Study

Through the memorandum, the Savarna Samaj Sangharsh Morcha also demanded the formation of a Savarna Commission. Furthermore, they urged for a detailed study of the social and economic impacts of the reservation system by an independent expert committee.

Additionally, the memorandum included significant demands such as scholarships, free coaching, hostel facilities, and financial assistance for examination fees for economically weaker students.

Officials from the Morcha clarified that their protest is not against any specific caste or class, but aims to ensure equal rights and social harmony for all citizens. The administration received the memorandum and assured appropriate action.

A large number of community members were present during this demonstration.
