Prashant Kishor Triumphs in Bankipore Bypoll
In a closely contested by-election for the Bankipore assembly seat in Bihar, Jansuraj Party founder Prashant Kishor has emerged victorious. He defeated the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Neeraj Kumar by a significant margin of 18,953 votes. This win marks a substantial blow to the BJP in Bankipore, traditionally considered their stronghold.
According to the final data released by the Election Commission, after 32 rounds of counting, Prashant Kishor secured a total of 63,203 votes. Neeraj Kumar of the BJP trailed with 44,250 votes. The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate Rekha Kumari secured 14,085 votes, finishing in third place.
Historic Win for Jansuraj in Bankipore
The Bankipore assembly seat, located in Patna's urban area, has long been a bastion of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Previously, the seat was represented by the BJP state president Nitin Naveen. Prashant Kishor's victory is being viewed as a significant shift in state politics.
This win for Prashant Kishor, who has recently made inroads into Bihar's political landscape through the Jansuraj campaign, is being analyzed by political analysts as a crucial turning point. It clearly indicates the growing influence of the Jansuraj Party and the strength of Kishor's leadership, potentially impacting future political equations in the state.
Congress Retains Datia Seat
In a related development, the results for the Datia assembly seat by-election in Madhya Pradesh have also been declared. Here, Congress candidate Ghanshyam Singh defeated the BJP candidate Ashutosh Tiwari by a margin of 6,053 votes.
This victory allows the Congress to retain its hold on the Datia seat, while the BJP has lost a key constituency. This outcome may also signal a shift in Madhya Pradesh's political panorama, where the Congress has secured this win by giving a tough fight to the BJP.
The results of both by-elections are being considered significant indicators for the upcoming general elections.
