NITTTTR Bhopal and IGNCA Sign MoU to Integrate Indian Knowledge Traditions into Education

Partnership Aims to Revitalize Technical Education with Indian Knowledge Systems

The National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTTR) Bhopal and the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) New Delhi have signed a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This collaboration aims to integrate Indian knowledge traditions into the country's technical and vocational education.

Aligned with the National Education Policy 2020, this initiative represents a crucial step in connecting India's profound heritage, encompassing science, arts, culture, and traditional technology, with the contemporary education system. Under this agreement, NITTTTR Bhopal will launch undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD level programs in the field of Indian knowledge traditions starting from the current academic session.

Academic Inclusion of Knowledge Traditions

IGNCA will provide expert guidance for the development of these courses, teaching methodologies, creation of educational content, and research work. Professor Chandra Charu Tripathi, Director of NITTTTR Bhopal, emphasized the importance of this partnership, stating that Indian knowledge tradition is not merely a glorious history but a vibrant stream of science, innovation, and technology.

He further explained that both institutions will jointly promote research and publications on subjects related to Indian history, mathematics, architecture, and traditional technical knowledge. IGNCA's extensive archival resources will be utilized for developing digital study materials, e-books, and audio-visual resources, offering students an opportunity to connect with their roots.

Roles and Objectives of the Institutions

Dr. Sachchidanand Joshi, Member Secretary of IGNCA, highlighted that his institution is a premier national center for the preservation and research of art, culture, and heritage. He stated that IGNCA's multidisciplinary approach can play a pivotal role in incorporating various dimensions such as literature, architecture, crafts, music, dance, and folk traditions into academic studies.

During the event, a visit was also made to IGNCA's Heritage Preservation Lab and Publications Department, fostering greater coordination and understanding between the two institutions. Dr. P.K. Purohit, Head of the Department of Indian Knowledge Traditions, clarified that this collaboration will accelerate the preservation of the nation's knowledge heritage as well as its contemporary application.

This partnership will not only connect students and teachers with India's rich heritage but also provide them with an opportunity to deeply understand its scientific, philosophical, and practical aspects within the context of modern education. Dignitaries including Dr. Ramendra Singh, Dr. Sudhir Lal, and other officials and members of the institutions were present during this significant event.

This academic alliance is poised to establish new dimensions in the field of technical education in the coming times, ultimately leading to better employment opportunities for students.
