Rabi Season 2026-27 Preparations Reviewed

Agriculture Production Commissioner K.C. Gupta conducted a thorough review of Rabi Season 2026-27 preparations for Guna, Gwalior, and Chambal divisions via video conference. The meeting primarily focused on ensuring fertilizer availability and effective implementation of various agricultural schemes.

Commissioner Gupta instructed officials to encourage farmers to adopt crops that yield high output with minimal water. He also stressed the importance of educating farmers about the use of advanced agricultural techniques. The meeting highlighted crop diversification, adoption of irrigation methods like drip and sprinkler systems, and moisture conservation techniques. These steps were deemed essential for ensuring the efficient use of water resources.

Fertilizer Availability and Black Market Control

The distribution system for fertilizers for the Rabi season was a key discussion point. Officials received strict directives to ensure timely availability of crucial fertilizers like DAP, Urea, and NPK to farmers as per their requirements. Verification of stock at private dealerships and cooperative societies was also mandated.

Strict action was ordered against any individuals involved in black marketing or selling fertilizers at inflated prices. This ensures fair access to essential agricultural inputs for farmers.

Horticulture and Rose Cultivation Praised

Commissioner Gupta expressed satisfaction with the horticulture activities and the progress in rose cultivation being undertaken in Guna district under the leadership of Collector Kishore Kumar Kanyal. The work in the district's horticulture sector was deemed satisfactory, with an emphasis on encouraging farmers to engage in income-generating activities alongside main crop cultivation.

Incentives for Animal Husbandry and Fisheries

Officials were directed to develop sectors such as animal husbandry, dairy development, and fisheries as primary income sources for farmers. Emphasis was placed on facilitating farmers' access to government schemes and making milk collection societies more active.

It was also directed that the e-Mandi system be made more transparent and effective, ensuring farmers receive fair and profitable prices for their produce. Special emphasis was placed on increasing agricultural production and establishing better coordination among the relevant departments.
