National Deworming Day: DM Directs Departments for Coordination

District Level Inter-Departmental Coordination Meeting Held

Farrukhabad, July 27, 2026 – To ensure the successful organization of National Deworming Day in Farrukhabad, District Magistrate (DM) Dr. Ankur Lathar has directed all relevant departments to work collaboratively for effective implementation. Officials from the health, education, and women and child development departments participated in the district-level inter-departmental coordination committee meeting held at the Collectorate auditorium in Fatehgarh.

Strengthening Coordination for the Health Campaign

The primary objective of the meeting was to bolster coordination among various departments for the comprehensive and effective execution of this crucial health campaign. DM Lathar issued a stern warning to health department officials, stating that severe action would be taken against the concerned Medical Superintendents if any irregularities in the availability and management of basic facilities and medicines at rural health units were found.

He further added that action would also be taken against the concerned clerk and authorized signatory officer if irregularities are found in the payment of medical treatment bills for government employees. Additionally, any health worker found involved in referring patients from government hospitals to private hospitals would be suspended.

Ensuring 100% Availability of Deworming Medicine

During the meeting, the District Magistrate particularly emphasized the need to ensure the availability of deworming medicine to every child within the targeted age group under the campaign. It is critically important to ensure that no eligible child is left out of this initiative. He instructed that ASHA workers and ANMs working in rural areas must verify that the Albendazole medicine given to children is not expired.

For children aged one to two years, it was advised to administer the medicine in liquid form for their convenience. The DM also stressed the importance of widespread publicity for the campaign. He stated that people should be made aware of this initiative through schools, Anganwadi centers, and health institutions to increase awareness among parents and the general public, enabling more children to benefit from the campaign.

Departments Expected to Fulfill Responsibilities Seriously

All departmental officials were directed to discharge their respective duties with utmost seriousness and responsibility. Regular monitoring of the campaign should ensure the 100% achievement of set targets. The District Magistrate highlighted that National Deworming Day is a significant initiative for the improved health and nutrition of children, and the active participation of all departments is essential for its successful implementation.

Action Plan Presented by Chief Medical Officer

In the meeting, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr. Anand Upadhyay presented the action plan for National Deworming Day, including targeted beneficiaries, medicine distribution arrangements, training programs, and the outline for the 'Mop-up Day'. He assured that all preparations are being completed on time by establishing necessary coordination between the concerned departments for the smooth conduct of the campaign. Other officials from the concerned departments and committee members were also present during the meeting.
