Madhya Pradesh celebrated Teacher's Day 2026 with a grand state-level award ceremony in Bhopal, recognising the pivotal role of educators in shaping the nation's future. School Education Minister Rao Uday Pratap Singh emphasised that teachers impart not only knowledge but also instill high values in students, serving as the bedrock of national development.

The event, held at the RCVP Naroha Administration and Management Academy in Bhopal, was graced by Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel as the chief guest and Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav in the chair. The ceremony highlighted the invaluable contributions of teachers across the state.

State-Level Excellence Awards

A total of 33 outstanding government teachers from Madhya Pradesh were honoured for their exceptional work in the education sector. This distinguished group comprised 18 teachers from the primary category and 15 from the secondary category. Each awardee received a shawl, a coconut, a certificate of appreciation, and a cash prize of ₹25,000.

The selection process aimed to acknowledge teachers who have demonstrated remarkable dedication and innovation in their classrooms and schools. The ceremony served as a platform to express gratitude for their persistent efforts in nurturing young minds and contributing to societal progress.

National Recognition for MP Teachers

This year, Madhya Pradesh also celebrated national accolades for two of its teachers. Dr. Archana Shukla from Bhopal was presented with the National Teacher Award-2026 by President Smt. Droupadi Murmu for her innovative approaches and excellent teaching methodologies.

Shri Shailendra Pratap Singh from Sidhi was recognised with a national award for bringing about significant student-centric changes in government schools. These national honours underscore the high standard of teaching and commitment prevalent within the state's education system.

Broader Educational Initiatives

In addition to the awards, the occasion also saw other key educational initiatives. The process for transferring uniform allowance to the accounts of students across the state was initiated on Teacher's Day. Furthermore, various cultural programs and discussions were organised in primary, secondary, and higher secondary schools.

These events focused on the guru-shishya tradition and the vital role teachers play in nation-building. The School Education Minister reiterated the importance of teachers in implementing the New Education Policy (NEP 2020) and making government schools modern and student-friendly.

The state government acknowledged the collective effort of teachers in driving educational reforms and fostering a conducive learning environment. The celebratory mood was amplified by the recognition of Madhya Pradesh teachers who had previously received national awards in 2025, further highlighting the state's commitment to educational excellence.
