Bridging Generational Gaps Through Dialogue

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Chief Mohan Bhagwat has stressed the importance of establishing positive dialogue with India's younger generations, particularly Gen-Z and Gen-Alpha. He stated that viewing this new generation negatively is inappropriate, as they represent the nation's most sincere and energetic cohort.

Bhagwat shared these views during an event in Mumbai where he discussed the concerns of the youth, the reasons behind their protests, and their role in society. Addressing the 15th anniversary of IIMUN (Indian Institute of Modern Negotiation) at the Neeta Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) in the Jio Convention Centre, he noted that today's youth are curious.

They ask questions, seek to understand facts based on logic, and do not hesitate to express their views assertively. Bhagwat emphasized that generational differences in viewpoints are natural, but these differences should not escalate into conflict. The coordination of experience and youth energy can provide a new direction for society and the nation.

Understanding Youth Concerns is Crucial

Referring to recent student protests at Jantar Mantar, Mohan Bhagwat suggested that the situation might not have become so serious if the government and other responsible institutions had listened to the youth's concerns and engaged in direct dialogue in a timely manner. He stressed that instead of dismissing any movement or disagreement solely as protest, it is vital to understand the emotions and underlying problems behind them.

Bhagwat described the growing negative perceptions of Gen-Z in society as misguided, stating they are not a separate group but rather our own children and our next generation. He appealed to elders and responsible individuals in society to connect with the youth through trust, a sense of belonging, and rational conversation, rather than merely imposing orders.

According to Bhagwat, the strength of democracy depends not only on robust institutions but also on a vibrant culture of dialogue. He believes that youth should be provided a platform to voice their opinions and find solutions to their problems. Acknowledging disagreement as a natural part of democracy, he said that dialogue conducted in the right direction leads society towards progress.

Tech-Savvy Youth and Societal Responsibility

The RSS Chief highlighted that today's youth are equipped with technology, global knowledge, and innovative thinking. They wish to understand any subject in depth and do not accept decisions based solely on tradition or blind imitation. Therefore, it is the collective responsibility of families, society, and the government to understand the thinking and perspective of the youth and positively channel their immense energy towards nation-building.

He described the youth as a crucial force for India's future, stating that their creativity, hard work, and new ideas can make invaluable contributions to the country's development. Bhagwat urged the youth to move forward by embracing responsibility, discipline, and social values.

Over 2,000 Gen-Z and Gen-Alpha youth from across the country participated in this event, sharing their views and questions on various social, national, and contemporary issues. The primary objective of this dialogue was to foster an environment of better understanding, trust, and cooperation between the younger generation and society. The enthusiastic participation of youth in this IIMUN event indicated the new generation's deep interest in the country's social and national issues. Discussions also covered important topics such as leadership qualities, democratic values, and responsibility towards society.

Mohan Bhagwat's address is considered particularly relevant at a time when the importance of youth participation and the role of their voices are continuously growing in India. He clearly conveyed the message that 'dialogue' is the most effective and robust medium for understanding the youth, and only trust-based relationships can build a strong and harmonious society.
