Minister Reviews Flood Damage in Fatehpur

Minister of State Kuljit Singh visited the Fatehpur district on Friday to assess the extensive damage to farmers' crops caused by recent floods. He met with affected farmers to understand their grievances and reviewed the ongoing government relief efforts.

Heavy rainfall in several parts of the district led to a rise in the water levels of the Yamuna and Ganga rivers, causing floodwaters to inundate low-lying areas. This unexpected deluge has severely impacted the farmers' Kharif crops, posing a grave threat to their livelihoods.

Minister's Visit to Tharaiyan Area

Minister Kuljit Singh began his tour in the Tharaiyan area, where he received a warm welcome from local supporters. Residents informed him about the widespread crop damage and waterlogging issues caused by the floods.

Farmers described how their fields were submerged knee-deep in water, completely destroying ready crops like paddy, maize, and vegetables. The minister assured the farmers that the government stands with them during this difficult time and will provide all possible assistance as per regulations.

He instructed officials to immediately assess the damage and prepare a list of affected farmers.

On-Site Inspection and Review Meeting

Following his interaction with the residents in Tharaiyan, Minister Kuljit Singh visited other flood-ravaged areas of Fatehpur. He conducted an on-site inspection to gauge the extent of the damage, observing the submerged fields to understand the severity of the floods.

He paid special attention to the damage reports provided by the farmers. Subsequently, a review meeting was held with district administration officials. During this meeting, the minister held detailed discussions on the current situation in the affected areas and the points of government assistance for farmers.

Officials from the Agriculture Department, Revenue Department, and Disaster Management Department were present at the meeting. The officials were directed to expedite the process of preparing the list of affected farmers and ensure the distribution of aid amounts according to norms. He emphasized that no eligible farmer should be deprived of government benefits.

Government's Commitment to Farmers

The minister stressed that the government is with the 'annadatas' (food providers) and relief efforts will be expedited after assessing the losses. He urged officials to also coordinate with insurance companies so that farmers can receive benefits from crop insurance.

Several dignitaries were present during this tour and meeting, including Advocate Shivam Pandey, Lucky Tiwari, Sonu Yadav, Lalit Tiwari, Ashish Pandey, Aditya Kumar alias Raja Pathar Wale, Priyanshu, Chandan Babu, Anand Prakash Srivastava, Pramod Kumar, Rajendra Mishra, and Neeraj Tiwari. Local leaders also presented the problems of the flood victims to the minister and demanded prompt action.

The minister assured everyone that their complaints would be taken seriously and resolved as soon as possible.
