Jai Veer Singh, Minister of Tourism and Culture and the district in-charge minister for Farrukhabad, conducted an unexpected visit to the District Jail Fatehgarh on Friday, September 11, 2026. The inspection involved a thorough assessment of the basic facilities provided to inmates, sanitation standards, healthcare services, and the overall security arrangements within the jail premises.

The minister obtained detailed information from jail officials regarding the total number of inmates and the various amenities being offered. Minister Singh also meticulously inspected the jail's kitchen. He issued clear directives that inmate deployment for food preparation should follow a transparent roster system.

Focus on Prisoner Health and Safety

During the inspection of the medical facility, Minister Jai Veer Singh placed particular emphasis on the regular health check-ups for both male and female inmates. He stressed the importance of isolating inmates suffering from infectious or serious diseases from the general population to prevent any spread of infection.

The jail administration was instructed to be particularly vigilant to ensure that no prisoner is deprived of necessary medical care. Minister Singh also inquired about various activities and programs underway within the jail aimed at imparting skills to inmates and providing them with employment opportunities. He advocated for enhancing the effectiveness and expanding these initiatives to aid in the rehabilitation of inmates after their release.

Present at the occasion were several senior officials and staff of the prison administration, including District Panchayat Administrator Monika Yadav, BJP District President Fatehchandra Verma, District Magistrate Dr. Ankur Lather, Superintendent of Police Aarti Singh, Jail Superintendent Arvind Srivastava, and physician Dr. Neeraj. The minister provided necessary guidelines to the concerned officials to further strengthen the jail's systems.

He stated that the jail administration must regularly ensure compliance with these directives, and any negligence would not be tolerated. The inspection concluded with a review of the jail's internal security arrangements, where he also assessed the availability of security equipment and the vigilance of the staff.
