Suspicious Death in Tikariya Village

Mahoba, August 8, 2026 – In the village of Tikariya, under the jurisdiction of the Ajnar police station, a 22-year-old married woman named Imarti was found dead by hanging late Thursday evening under suspicious circumstances. The police have taken significant action by registering a case against the deceased's husband, mother-in-law, and father-in-law under various sections, including dowry harassment and murder.

The incident has become a major topic of discussion in the region. According to information received, Imarti's body was discovered hanging from a noose in her home on Thursday evening. Upon receiving information about the incident, local police arrived at the scene, took possession of the body, and sent it to the district hospital for post-mortem examination. The event had sent shockwaves through the locality.

Mother Alleges Dowry Torture

On Friday evening, the deceased Imarti's mother, Lalita, wife of Premnarayan, a resident of Srinagar, submitted a written complaint to the Ajnar police station, leveling serious accusations. In her complaint, she stated that her daughter had been continuously harassed by her husband and in-laws since her marriage, demanding dowry.

Lalita alleges that this constant harassment and persecution forced her daughter to end her own life, or that she was murdered. The family's allegations have cast a dark shadow over the incident.

Police Register Murder Case

Taking the allegations from the maternal family seriously, the police acted immediately. Station House Officer of Ajnar, Radheshyam Singh, stated that based on the complaint, a case has been registered against the deceased's husband, Jagat Singh, father-in-law Karan Singh, and mother-in-law Sumitra. The case includes sections of the Dowry Prohibition Act and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code pertaining to murder.

The police have assured that a thorough investigation into the matter has commenced and further legal action will be taken based on the investigation's findings. Currently, the accused family members are reported to be absconding and are not yet in police custody.
