Madhya Pradesh Police Receives UN Recognition for Human Rights Excellence

Innovations undertaken by the state police, under the leadership of Director General of Police Shri Kailash Makwana, were lauded at the World Human Rights Summit held at the United Nations headquarters.

During this summit, DIG (Community Policing) Dr. Vineet Kapoor was presented with the 'Human Rights Hero Award', a moment of pride for the state. In the presence of representatives, policymakers, police officers, academics, and human rights experts from over 70 countries, Dr. Vineet Kapoor presented the human rights-based training system and innovative models of community policing employed by the Madhya Pradesh Police.

Dr. Kapoor also mentioned the state-wide public awareness campaign 'नशे से दूरी है ज़रूरी' (Distance from Addiction is Necessary) being run by the Madhya Pradesh Police to the delegates at the UN headquarters. He urged representatives from various countries to spread the message of de-addiction.

In response, delegates and human rights experts from numerous countries echoed the message of 'Say No to Drugs', commending the Madhya Pradesh Police's awareness campaign against addiction and describing it as an exemplary initiative for societal well-being. This campaign not only raises awareness about the harmful effects of drugs but also inspires youth to stay away from addiction and engage in positive activities.
