World Record Set for Mass Inmate Spiritual Participation

In a groundbreaking initiative for inmate reform, rehabilitation, and character development, the Madhya Pradesh Jail Department organized a massive spiritual program across all jails in the state in February 2026. Led by Director General of Prisons and Correctional Services, Dr. Varun Kapoor, the event saw an unprecedented 27,733 inmates participating simultaneously, earning a place in the 'World Book of Records London'.

Spiritual Teachings Broadcast Across State Jails

As part of this statewide initiative, a special spiritual and correctional program based on the teachings of the Srimad Bhagavad Gita was broadcast live from the Central Jail Indore to inmates in various prisons across the state. Renowned Gita scholar and spiritual saint Shri Gyananand Ji Maharaj addressed the inmates on this occasion, providing them with an opportunity for spiritual enlightenment.

Unprecedented Participation and World Achievement

The simultaneous participation of such a large number of inmates in a live spiritual and correctional program is a unique and historical example. The real-time participation of 27,733 inmates in the program held in February 2026 has established it as a world record. This achievement is not only a moment of pride for the Madhya Pradesh Jail Department but also highlights the department's positive and humane approach towards inmate reform.

Reform Through Spirituality

The primary objective of this program was to promote the spiritual, mental, and physical upliftment of inmates, foster positive thinking, and inspire character building. By integrating spiritual education with the process of inmate reform and rehabilitation, the department has strived to empower these individuals to reintegrate into the mainstream society. This initiative demonstrates how spirituality can offer a positive direction even in challenging circumstances.
