'Garima Abhiyan' Tackles Harassment Near Educational Institutions

Reaffirming its commitment to providing a safe and fearless environment for women and girls, Jabalpur Police has carried out an effective operation under the 'Garima Abhiyan'. The primary objective of this campaign is to ensure that the daughters of the state can travel to schools, colleges, coaching centers, workplaces, or any other location without fear.

Under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Shri Sampat Upadhyay, on August 6, 2026, Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Smt. Anu Benival, along with Woman Police Station In-charge Smt. Manju Sharma and the Shakti Task Force, conducted a special operation around various schools and educational institutions in Jabalpur.

Strict Legal Action Taken Against Suspicious Individuals

During the operation, strict legal action was taken against individuals loitering unnecessarily around schools, youth involved in suspicious activities, and those violating traffic rules, such as riding motorcycles without helmets or with improper number plates. The police focused on ensuring a secure perimeter around educational hubs.

Direct Dialogue and Assurance of Safety for Female Students

During the campaign, the Additional Superintendent of Police engaged in direct dialogue with female students studying in educational institutions. She listened to their safety concerns and made them aware of the available support systems. Smt. Benival clearly stated that if any individual attempts to harass, stalk, behave indecently, or cause distress in any manner, they should immediately inform the police without any hesitation or fear.

She emphasized that upon receiving such information, the police will promptly reach the location, provide necessary assistance, and ensure strict legal action is taken against the offender. This direct interaction aims to build trust and encourage reporting of incidents.
