Call for Enhanced Security on Balrampur Bridges to Curb Suicides

The Cliff News | Balrampur | September 22, 2026 In an effort to curb the rising incidents of suicide on sensitive bridges in the Balrampur district and ensure public safety, former MP candidate Yugal Kishore Shukla has submitted a memorandum to the District Magistrate. Shukla has demanded stringent security arrangements at these locations to prevent loss of life.

The memorandum highlights that many bridges lack adequate safety barriers, allowing individuals to easily jump into the river and attempt suicide. To address this serious issue, the former candidate has emphasized the urgent need for high railings, safety nets, barricading, and clear warning signs on vulnerable bridges with immediate effect.

Traffic Safety and Road Improvement Suggestions

Yugal Kishore Shukla has also offered several significant suggestions to enhance traffic safety on the district's major routes, particularly the Balrampur-Bahraich Highway and the Tulsipur route. He has proposed the installation of speed breakers and rumble strips at key locations such as the Collectorate intersection, Purani Kacheri, Peepal Tiraha, Kalisthan intersection, Sharda Public School, MLK PG College, and the District Memorial Hospital.

Furthermore, Shukla has requested the installation of reflectors on the northern boundary wall of the Collectorate and the establishment of clear indicator boards for various offices. He believes that these minor improvements will not only reduce accidents but also make navigation easier for the general public.

Preventing Traffic Jams and Ensuring Safety of Construction Work

To ensure smooth traffic management, Shukla has suggested implementing route diversions to prevent traffic jams and deploying additional police force. He has appealed to keep the construction work of the under-construction overbridge within safe limits and to prioritize safety standards in accident-prone areas.

It is expected that the District Magistrate will ensure swift action on all these points to improve the safety and accessibility of public movement in the Balrampur district.
