Illicit Liquor Worth ₹35,000 Seized in Mehgaon, Accused Absconds
Mehgaon police seized ₹35,000 worth of illicit liquor. The accused, Sanjeev alias Sanju, fled the scene upon police arrival.

Illicit Liquor Seized in Mehgaon
Mehgaon police in the Bhind district acted on a tip-off to seize ₹35,000 worth of illicit liquor. However, the accused managed to escape from the spot upon seeing the police. A case has been registered under the Excise Act, and further investigation is underway.
Police Raid Uncovers Illicit Trade
According to information received on Saturday, Mehgaon police received confidential information that Sanjeev alias Sanju, son of Chhaviram Singh Jatav, a resident of village Siloli, was storing and selling illicit liquor from his home. Acting on this information, a team led by Station In-charge Ravindra Sharma, under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Suraj Kumar Verma, Additional Superintendent of Police Pradeep Patel, and SDOP Sanjay Kochha, raided the location indicated by the informant.
Accused Flees, Liquor Recovered
The accused, Sanjeev alias Sanju, managed to flee the scene as the police arrived at his house. A search of the premises led to the recovery of nine crates of liquor. These included five crates of 'Bolt Bitter Can', containing 120 cans, and four crates of 'Desi Plain' liquor, containing 200 quarters. The total value of the seized liquor was estimated to be around ₹35,000.
Habitual Offender Identified
Station In-charge Ravindra Sharma stated that this is not the first offense for the accused Sanjeev alias Sanju under the Excise Act; he is a habitual offender. Five previous cases have been registered against him under the same Act. The police have registered a case under Section 34(2) of the Excise Act (Crime Number 214/2026) and have begun an investigation. The police are actively searching for the absconding accused. Sub-Inspector Vivek Sharma, Head Constable Satendra Sharma, and Constables Neetu Dubey, Tilak Tomar, and Hemant Gurjar also played significant roles in this operation.
