District Administration Cracks Down on Illegal M-Sand Transport

In a significant move against illegal mineral transportation, the district administration of Guna, Madhya Pradesh, carried out a major operation on Tuesday. Acting on clear directives from Collector Kishore Kumar Kanyal, a team from the Mineral Department conducted a thorough inspection in the Cant area of the city, resulting in the seizure of a tractor-trolley illegally transporting M-sand.

This action marks a crucial step towards curbing illegal mining and transportation within the district. During the inspection, the Mineral Department team identified a tractor-trolley in suspicious condition. Upon closer examination, it was discovered that the vehicle was carrying M-sand without any valid documentation.

Revenue Loss and Environmental Damage Highlighted

The illegal transport of M-sand, a vital material for construction, not only leads to revenue loss for the government but also causes harm to the environment. In response to the violation of Mineral Act, the team promptly seized the vehicle at the scene.

For security reasons, the seized vehicle has been placed at the local Cant Police Station. Legal proceedings have been initiated under the Madhya Pradesh Minor Mineral Rules concerning illegal excavation.

Broader Investigation into Illegal M-Sand Trade

Vijay Kumar Chakravarty, the In-charge Mineral Inspector, stated that the department is not only investigating the transportation aspect but also delving deep into the illegal excavation and storage of M-sand. The objective is to identify all individuals and syndicates involved in this illicit trade.

The department's personnel demonstrated full readiness during this operation, underscoring their commitment. The administration has affirmed that strict action against illegal mineral activities will continue in the district. Those found violating the rules will face severe penalties as per the law.

Disruption for Mineral Smugglers and Future Strategy

This crackdown has caused panic among illegal mineral smugglers, who are now finding it difficult to continue their illicit operations. The department is now focusing on identifying the main sources of this illegal trade to strike at the roots of smuggling and prevent future occurrences.
