Four-Decade Fugitive Arrested in Sultanpur Following High Court Order

Warrant Accused Apprehended After Four Decades
The Bhojipura police station in Bareilly, acting on an order from the Allahabad High Court, has apprehended a warrant accused, Aziz Khan, who had been on the run for approximately four decades. This arrest is linked to a case registered in 1984, from which the accused had evaded legal proceedings.
Court Order Triggers Arrest Warrant
According to information received from the police, an order was passed on September 2, 2026, in Criminal Appeal No. 96/1986, Aziz Khan & Others vs. State of Uttar Pradesh, pending before the Allahabad High Court. In compliance with this order, a warrant of arrest was issued against the warrant accused, Aziz Khan son of Mohammad Hussain alias Mohammad Hasan, a resident of Dhaura Tanda, Bhojipura police station, Bareilly.
Tracked Down and Arrested in Sultanpur
During the investigation to execute the warrant, police received crucial information that the accused had changed his residence and was living in village Khailkha, Dostpur police station, Sultanpur. Based on this intelligence, a team from Bhojipura police, in coordination with local police, conducted a raid in Sultanpur. On September 20, 2026, at approximately 2:05 PM, police arrested the accused Aziz Khan from his residence.
Case History and Police Action
Police records indicate that a case (Crime No. 23/1984) under Section 3/7 EC Act was registered against Aziz Khan at the Bhojipura police station in 1984. The accused confessed during interrogation that he resided in Dhaura Tanda in 1984. He was granted bail after the case was registered, after which he moved to village Khailkha in Sultanpur and had been hiding there ever since. The police team responsible for this successful operation included Inspector Kunwar Bahadur Singh, Sub-Inspector Ranjeet Singh, and Constable Sanjay Sagar. The police department stated that further legal proceedings are being undertaken in accordance with court directives. This arrest is considered a significant achievement by the police in resolving a long-pending warrant.
