A significant operation was conducted by a joint team from the Food Safety Department and the Revenue Department at food establishments operating within the Narsinghgarh Bus Stand complex. During this operation, suspect samples of mawa and paneer were seized. The surprise inspection, carried out under the directives of the Senior Officer, Food Safety Administration, Madhya Pradesh, and the guidance of the District Collector, prioritized public health and involved a thorough examination of food standards and hygiene.
Led by Food Safety Officer S.S. Khatri, the team inspected prominent businesses at the bus stand, including Rajasthan Sweets and Hotel Rajkumar Palace. Samples were collected from various products at Rajasthan Sweets, such as Kashmiri Barfi, Chocolatey Barfi, and Bengali Sweets. Suspicious samples of mawa and paneer were gathered from Hotel Rajkumar Palace.
Suspect Mawa Seized, Sent for Testing
During the inspection, a total of 45 kilograms of mawa was found at Hotel Rajkumar Palace. While one kilogram was set aside as a sample for testing, the remaining 44 kilograms of suspect mawa was immediately seized. The estimated value of the seized mawa is approximately ₹13,200. All collected samples will be sent to the State Food Testing Laboratory for detailed examination. Statutory action will be ensured as per the rules based on the report received from the laboratory.
Intensive Check on Hygiene and Licensing
Nayab Tehsildar Sunita Dehalwar and other personnel from the Revenue Department actively participated in this campaign. The inspection meticulously evaluated the arrangements for safe storage of food items, the overall hygiene standards, and compliance with food licenses at the establishments. Food Safety Officers issued strict instructions to the establishment operators to fully comply with the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. They were directed that providing quality and safe food items to consumers is their primary responsibility.
The Food Safety Administration has clarified that inspections and sample collection of this nature will continue at regular intervals throughout the district in the future, remaining vigilant about protecting public health and ensuring strict compliance with food safety standards.
