Record Maize Arrival in Guna Mandi

The Nanapheri agricultural produce market in Guna, Madhya Pradesh, has witnessed a bumper arrival of maize, shattering all previous records from the past five years. On Tuesday, the market recorded an unprecedented 65,476 quintals of maize, the highest figure of the season so far.

This exceptional arrival has raised hopes among farmers for better prices for their produce while also presenting a logistical challenge for the administration. The total agricultural produce arrival on Tuesday reached 74,517 quintals, significantly surpassing last year's peak of 57,000 quintals for a single day during the same period.

Facilitating Trade with Alternative Auction Site

With over two thousand vehicles queuing up, the district administration and mandi management strategically shifted the auction process to the city's Dashahara Maidan as per a pre-arranged plan. This move was crucial to manage the immense influx of produce.

Under the supervision of Mandi Secretary RP Singh, the auction of farmers' produce brought by 1,757 tractors was successfully conducted at Dashahara Maidan. This proactive approach, decided in meetings involving the SDM, CSP, and other officials, ensured smooth traffic flow in the city, preventing any traffic jams.

Streamlined Traffic Management and Future Plans

To effectively manage the crowd and maintain order, separate entry and exit routes were designated at the mandi gates. Loudspeakers were used to guide drivers directly to Dashahara Maidan, thereby alleviating pressure on the main mandi premises.

The administration's future plan includes conducting the auction process at the main mandi premises on Wednesday. If the pressure of arrivals continues, alternative sites will be utilized in the coming days. This well-thought-out and adaptable strategy is proving to be a significant relief for both farmers and city residents during this period of bumper arrivals.
