EVM and VVPAT First Level Checking Underway
In preparation for the upcoming 2027 Assembly General Elections, the first level checking (FLC) process for Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines commenced on September 17, 2026, in Farrukhabad. This critical task is being conducted under the strict supervision of District Election Officer Dr. Ankur Lathar at the EVM warehouse within the Collectorate premises in Fatehgarh.
Mandatory Technical Testing for Electoral Machines
District Election Officer Dr. Ankur Lathar stated that as per the directives of the Election Commission of India, a technical examination of EVM and VVPAT machines is mandatory before every election. Authorized engineers from Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) are conducting the tests according to the prescribed manual procedures.
Selection of Machines for Voting
Only those machines that successfully pass this stringent technical testing will be selected for use in the upcoming polling. This rigorous selection process ensures the reliability of the voting equipment.
Ensuring Transparency in the Electoral Process
To maintain complete transparency in the electoral process, the district administration has made all necessary arrangements. Recognized national and state-level political parties were formally invited in writing on September 15 to observe the proceedings. Authorized representatives nominated by these parties have been granted the opportunity to witness the first level checking process.
Building Trust and Ensuring Fairness
This initiative has been taken to foster trust among political parties and ensure the impartiality of the electoral process. The administration is committed to upholding the highest standards of fairness.
Oversight by Election Commission
The District Magistrate further clarified that the first level checking (FLC) process is not only being monitored at the district level but is also under continuous review by the Chief Electoral Officer and the Election Commission of India. These preparations for the 2027 Assembly elections are being conducted impartially and in strict adherence to the commission's standards.
Administration's Priority: Reliability and Integrity
The administration's primary goal is to give paramount importance to the reliability and integrity of the electoral process. This ensures that every vote is counted accurately and fairly.
