Farrukhabad Launches Deworming Campaign for Children on August 10

District Gears Up for National Deworming Day Campaign

Farrukhabad district is set to launch a special campaign under the National Deworming Day initiative to improve the health of children and adolescents and protect them from worm infections. This campaign will administer the deworming medicine called Albendazole to all children aged 1 to 19 years, with the main day scheduled for August 10. The health department has completed all necessary preparations to ensure the success of this crucial health initiative.

Extensive Preparations and Drug Availability

Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr. Anand Upadhyay provided detailed information about the campaign, stating that sufficient quantities of Albendazole are available in the district to ensure easy access for children in the target age group. Currently, the health department has a stock of 15,472 Albendazole syrups and 15,51,632 Albendazole tablets. These medicines are being distributed to the concerned Primary Health Centers (PHCs) and Community Health Centers (CHCs) as per requirement to ensure every child receives the medication.

Detailed Campaign Plan and Drug Distribution

CMO Dr. Upadhyay has issued strict instructions to all Medical Officers In-Charge (MOICs) and concerned officials to not only ensure the availability of medicine in their respective areas but also to certify that the targeted children have consumed the medicine. The campaign will be conducted in various identified locations such as schools, Anganwadi centers, and other suitable places, with effective coordination between the health department and relevant departments.

Addressing the Risks of Worm Infections

Dr. Upadhyay highlighted the serious consequences of worm infections in children, explaining that these infections can lead to malnutrition, anemia, and severe impediments in physical development. Therefore, administering deworming medicine at the designated time is extremely essential. The CMO emphasized that the true success of the campaign lies not just in the distribution of medicine, but in ensuring that the medicine reaches the targeted child and is consumed.

Targeting Maximum Children by August 15

The Chief Medical Officer has directed all MOICs, ASHAs, ANMs, and Anganwadi workers, along with other health personnel, to maintain continuous monitoring in their respective areas even after the main campaign on August 10. Their aim should be to ensure that no eligible child is deprived of Albendazole medicine before August 15. Effective monitoring systems are in place up to the school and Anganwadi center levels to regularly review the progress of the campaign. Special attention is being given to prevent any disruption in the medicine supply chain and to ensure timely delivery of the medicines.

Mop-Up Day: Special Arrangements for Uncovered Children

During the main National Deworming Day campaign on August 10, if any child is unable to take the medicine for any reason or remains absent, a 'Mop-up Day' will be organized on August 14 to cover such children. On this special day, the missed children will be administered Albendazole, ensuring that no child is left untouched by the benefits of deworming medicine. The CMO expressed hope that the combined efforts of the main campaign on August 10 and the Mop-up Day on August 14 will lead to the successful completion of this health campaign before August 15.

Appeal to Parents for Active Cooperation

CMO Dr. Anand Upadhyay has also appealed to parents to actively cooperate in this important health initiative, emphasizing its significance for the healthy development and bright future of children. Parents are urged to ensure their children consume the deworming medicine on the designated days to protect them from the serious effects of worm infections.
