Farrukhabad: Ganga Water Level Recedes, Over 23,000 Affected in 33 Villages Due to Floods

Flood Situation in Farrukhabad

In the Farrukhabad district of Uttar Pradesh, 33 villages have been inundated due to the rising water levels of the Ganga and Ramganga rivers. The district administration is maintaining constant vigil and undertaking relief and rescue operations on a war footing.

Water Levels and Impact

According to information from the Irrigation Department, on August 4, 2026, the water level of the Ganga river was recorded at 136.90 meters, exceeding the warning point of 136.60 meters. Although a marginal decrease of 5 cm has been observed in the water level, flood conditions persist in several areas.

A total of 9 villages in Tehsil Sadar, 12 in Kaimganj, and 12 in Amritpur have been affected. The total population of these 33 affected villages is 23,367, comprising 4,855 families.

Relief and Rescue Operations

To ensure the safety and well-being of residents, 24 temporary flood shelters have been established in the district. Shelters at Mandi Samiti Ramsawaid and Ramania Girls Inter College have provided refuge to 240 people so far, with arrangements for food and other essential facilities.

Additionally, 52 temporary flood outposts are actively functioning. To expedite relief and rescue efforts in the flood-affected regions, 50 boats and 5 motorboats have been deployed. A team from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and a company of the PAC Flood Unit are present with necessary equipment.

The assistance of 53 volunteer divers is also being sought if required. The district administration has appealed to the public to disregard any rumors, avoid going near the riverbanks, and contact local administration or the control room immediately in case of any emergency.

Health and Livestock Security

To strengthen health services in the affected areas, 35 medical camps have been set up, treating 536 individuals to date. During these camps, 272 ORS packets and 896 chlorine tablets were distributed. The district administration has ensured the ample availability of anti-snake venom and other essential medicines.

Focusing on livestock protection, 11 veterinary camps are operational, where 79 animals have been treated and 3,804 vaccinated. Adequate arrangements for fodder and straw for the animals have also been made.
