Electricity Department Conducts Sweeping Campaign in Sadullahnagar
Sadullahnagar, Balrampur | September 16, 2026 - A comprehensive checking and outstanding bill recovery campaign was conducted on Wednesday by a team from the Vidyut Upkendra Achalpur Chaudhry in Sadullahnagar market, Balrampur. The primary objectives of this action were to recover government revenue and prevent electricity theft and rule violations.
During the campaign, the team conducted thorough checks of electricity connections at various shops and commercial establishments in the market. The department identified 15 consumers who were in arrears for their electricity bills. Outstanding amounts were recovered on the spot, adding to government revenue. Furthermore, the electricity connections of four consumers who failed to pay their bills on time or were negligent in payment were immediately disconnected.
Notices Issued for Commercial Usage
The inspection also revealed several serious irregularities. It was found that some consumers were using domestic electricity connections for commercial activities, which is against regulations. Three such consumers were identified, and the department had them fill out the necessary application forms to convert their domestic connections to commercial category.
This action was taken to prevent such misuse in the future. The team, led by Junior Engineers Arvind Kumar, Ashwani, and Mahtab Ali, educated consumers on the importance of timely bill payments. Officials clarified that this campaign will continue in the future to ensure strict adherence to electricity regulations.
Consumers were also urged to use their electricity connections only according to the category for which they are authorized. Two contractual workers from the department were also present with the team during this campaign. The department's proactiveness and zero-tolerance policy towards irregularities have become a topic of discussion in the area.
