Administration Accelerates Auction Process for Farmers' Dues

The Bareilly administration has adopted a strict stance against the owners of the Barela and Nawabganj sugar mills, expediting the process of auctioning their attached properties to clear outstanding sugarcane payments to farmers. A high-level meeting decided that the auction of confiscated properties of the Barela Sugar Mill will now take place on November 17, 2026.

To ensure the pending sugarcane payments to farmers are settled, the administration has implemented measures to make the auction process transparent and fair. A committee has been formed to oversee the auction, including Additional District Magistrate (City) Avinash Tripathi, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Nawabganj) Sachin Yadav, and Tehsildar Satyendra Katiyar. These officials have been instructed to leave no stone unturned in taking legal action against mill management and the board of directors.

Transparent Auction Procedures Established

The in-charge secretary of the Cooperative Sugarcane Development Committee, Barela, has been directed to exert legal pressure on the management concerning the pending payment of sugarcane prices for the 2025-26 season. In adherence to the provisions of the Revenue Code Manual 2016 for the auction of Barela Sugar Mill's properties, a fresh advertisement will be published, providing a minimum notice period of 15 days.

The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Barela) has been tasked with ensuring wide publicity for the auction to attract maximum bidders and secure a fair price. The committee's formation emphasizes a commitment to a transparent auction process.

Action Also Directed Against Nawabganj Mill Management

During the meeting, it was also made clear that legal action has been initiated against the management of the Nawabganj Sugar Mill. The administration has directed senior officials from all relevant departments, including the Additional District Magistrate (Finance and Revenue) and the District Cane Officer, to work with utmost promptness in this matter.

This firm action by the administration has instilled hope among sugarcane farmers regarding their outstanding payments. Officials have warned against any negligence and stressed the strict adherence to regulations.
