Education Minister's Message to Teachers: Bihar to be Rebuilt as Centre of Knowledge on Nalanda's Lines

Patna | September 5, 2026 - On the occasion of Teachers' Day, Bihar's Education Minister, Mithilesh Tiwari, extended heartfelt greetings to all teachers in the state. He emphasized that teachers are not just disseminators of knowledge but also custodians of values, architects of personality, and the foremost builders of the nation.

The minister highlighted the supreme importance of teachers in Indian culture and described the day as a sacred occasion to express gratitude and respect to educators in memory of the great philosopher and former President, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

Recalling Bihar's ancient tradition of learning, the Education Minister referenced the glorious heritage of Nalanda. He noted that Bihar was once a preeminent global centre for education and knowledge, and a resolution has now been made to revive this tradition in line with modern needs, transforming the state once again into the capital of knowledge.

A New Vision for Quality Education

Tiwari stressed the necessity of developing a quality education system in Bihar that harmoniously blends knowledge with values, science with wisdom, technology with human empathy, and modernity with India's traditional knowledge systems.

He clarified that the Bihar of tomorrow is being shaped in today's classrooms, where teachers identify students' talents and inspire them with the right direction, confidence, and motivation to realize their dreams. A teacher's behaviour, thoughts, discipline, and sensitivity leave an indelible mark on a student's personality.

Role of Teachers in 'Developed India'

The Education Minister underscored the pivotal role of education in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's significant 'Developed India@2047' pledge. He stated that teachers' contributions will be crucial in positioning India in a global leadership role based on knowledge, innovation, skills, research, and human values.

Mentioning Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary's commitment to making Bihar a leader in education, he said the government's ultimate goal is to prepare every child as a knowledgeable, skilled, value-oriented, self-reliant, and responsible citizen.

He placed particular emphasis on:

  • Providing modern and quality education in schools.
  • Instilling interest in science, mathematics, and technology.
  • Promoting skill and vocational education.
  • Connecting students with Indian culture and knowledge traditions.
  • Encouraging innovation and creativity.

Commitment to Teachers' Respect

On Teachers' Day, the Education Minister reiterated the government's unwavering commitment to the respect and dignity of teachers. He re-expressed his resolve to deliver quality education to every child, nurture hidden student talents, establish a balance between values and modernity in education, and advance Nalanda's historic educational heritage in a new form.

Quoting the famous couplet by Saint Kabir, 'Guru Gobind dou khade…', Tiwari described the guru as the true embodiment of knowledge. He bowed to the sacrifice, dedication, hard work, and commitment of teachers and extended his warm greetings on Teachers' Day.
