'Road to Cowshed' Campaign Gains Momentum

The 'Road to Cowshed' campaign, initiated by the administration in Damoh district to safely transport stray cattle wandering on the roads to designated cowsheds, has now gained significant momentum. To address the shortage of vehicles in this campaign, the National Highways Authority of India, under the directives of Collector Pratap Narayan Yadav, has provided a new cow lifter vehicle.

This specialized vehicle was flagged off to join the campaign, marking a crucial step towards preventing road accidents involving cattle. Collector Pratap Narayan Yadav highlighted the primary objective of this initiative: to safeguard cattle from potential accidents on the roads. He emphasized that the presence of cattle on roadways not only disrupts traffic but also leads to severe injuries for both the animals and the public.

Significant Progress and Future Assurance

To date, approximately 6,000 stray cattle have been safely relocated to cowsheds as part of this campaign. The Collector assured that the campaign will continue relentlessly until all stray cattle in the district find a safe haven. He specifically noted the utility of the cow lifter vehicle in capturing larger animals like bulls and Nandi.

Community Involvement and Safety Suggestions

Social worker Bhav Singh Lodhi praised the administration's efforts in cattle conservation, describing it as a collective responsibility. He urged citizens to ensure adequate fodder, water, and healthcare for their own animals.

Similarly, Sanjay Yadav welcomed the administration's move and appealed to cattle owners not to leave their animals unattended on the roads but to care for them properly. Another citizen, Lal Chand Rai, lauded the campaign as a commendable initiative by the government. For safety, he suggested attaching radium strips to the horns of cattle on the roads, believing it would alert drivers at night and reduce the risk of accidents.

The Collector reiterated his appeal to all cattle owners to keep their animals within their premises and actively support the administration in this vital mission to make the district's roads safer for everyone.
