Cow Falls into Drain, Rescue Operation Underway

In a serious incident near the Fatehgarh Police Line, a cow tragically fell into a drain on July 29, 2026. The voiceless animal was unable to free itself despite attempts.

Community Rallies for Rescue

Upon receiving information about the incident, local social welfare organizations sprang into action. Vinod Gupta of the Akhil Bharatiya Udyog Vyapar Mandal, Fatehgarh, informed social worker Rahul Rathore via phone. Rathore immediately contacted cow caretaker Golu Mathur.

JCB Deployed for Rescue Operation

Golu Mathur arrived at the scene with his team, including Karan Kumar, Anuj, Kohinoor, and Sagar Kumar. To safely extract the cow from the drain, a JCB machine was promptly summoned. After tireless efforts, the cow was successfully pulled out of the drain, saving its life.

Community Praises Rescue Efforts

Local residents applauded the rescue team for their successful operation. The team mentioned that the strong water current in the drain presented challenges, but they persevered to complete the rescue. The cow underwent a preliminary health check and was taken to a safe location.

Call for a Cow Shelter

Following the incident, Rahul Rathore made a significant appeal to the district administration to establish a permanent cow shelter in the Fatehgarh area. He believes a well-managed shelter would ensure the proper care and safety of stray cattle, preventing such accidents.

Rathore stated, "Currently, there is no proper facility in Fatehgarh for housing stray or abandoned animals. Often, such animals wander on the roads and sometimes fall victim to accidents or end up in places like drains, as happened in this case."

He emphasized that a cow shelter would not only save the lives of these vulnerable animals but also improve sanitation and public safety in the region. Rathore expressed hope that the district administration will seriously consider this demand and take necessary steps soon.
