The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), under the leadership of its national president Mayawati, has taken a significant step to maintain party discipline by expelling former Rajya Sabha MP and senior leader Ashok Siddharth with immediate effect. This action, stemming from allegations of indiscipline, aims to strengthen the organization in view of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

Ashok Siddharth has been an active member of the BSP for a long time and has held several important responsibilities within the party, including serving as the national coordinator. His expulsion gains further significance as he is also the father-in-law of BSP's national coordinator, Akash Anand. This marks a notable political development within the party, underscoring its preparations for the upcoming polls.

Emphasis on Discipline and Organizational Strength

According to sources, BSP supremo Mayawati is in no mood to tolerate any laxity or indiscipline within the organization. Ashok Siddharth had previously been expelled from the party but was reinstated after issuing a public apology. However, the current action is considered more severe.

In recent times, Mayawati has emphasized organizational changes and increased activity within the party. She hinted on her recent post on social media platform X that the process of candidate selection is rapidly progressing with the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections in mind. Party sources also indicate that consensus has been reached on the names of candidates for approximately 15 to 18 seats in the initial phase.

This decision by the BSP chief sends a clear message within the party that discipline is paramount and any internal differences or inactivity will not be tolerated.
